Chick-Fil-A Spirit Night!

As part of our service learning project, we will be hosting a spirit night at the Chick-Fil-A by campus (on University) on Monday, June 20 from 5-8 PM. 

15 percent of the profit from this spirit night will go to the YWLP for much needed supplies. If any of you are in the area please come and show your support for the YWLP by helping us to reach our goal of at least $150 (which is enough to sponsor one girl)!

Every little bit helps, so you can show your support even if you just get a lemonade or some waffle fries!

Awaiting the hand of someone who’s strong and tall.   “A lady only speaks when spoken to.”   Words that have worn her ears before she could lace her own shoes.    “ Don’t eat so much, a lady must always watch her figure.”      The maiden’s first trigger.    You see, she’s been trained and groomed to fit the needs of men.   Before she could even reach the age of ten.    Men are blessed with strength and glor y when they'r e born.    Women? The G[r]ay Area Between Female Friendship & Sexuality

Heteronormativity is a strange, but powerful thing. When a little girl and little boy play together, adults will project these odd notions onto them, making jokes about a future romance between the children. However, when two girls play together, it isn’t likely the same remarks will be made about their relationship. In Susan Shaw and Janet Lee's chapter on Sex and Intimacy, they detail that sexual scripts “provide frameworks and guidelines for sexual feelings and behaviors in a particular community at a particular time” and marks a crucial note that “foundational in these scripts is the oppositional binary of heterosexuality and homosexuality that constructs normative sexuality and shapes sexual feelings and expression” (281).
