I have never seen that commercial before. I remember the other Dove commercial from a while back that shows the average "model" being transformed by make-up and photo shopped until she looks pretty much god-like.

This commercial is a lot more effective. It really symbolizes the power that the media has over young girls. Television is poison to girls who do not have parents to explain things to them.

Brandon, I had parents to explain things to me, and I totally buy into it (still, even after all of my women's studies courses). It is very hard to overcome something as consuming as the media.

I must have only been about 6 or so, but I remember asking my mom to make my hair blond because only blond girls were pretty.

...Holy woah. That certainly gives one some perspective! The beauty expectations for women in today's society seem so much more violent when they're all compacted together like that. Great (and scary) commercial!

I posted this video in a previous blog, I still can't create a link for some reason and can only copy and paste the URL, hopefully I can figure it out soon! :) This commercial is so eye-opening, scary, and exciting all in one! I think it will really open mother's eyes to make a change so their daughters don't fall victim to this beauty ideal! The pressure we put girls under today, it is insane! Dove is really making some statements with their campaigns and commercials lately!
