Visual Media Invasion!

In light of the readings about visual media for week three, I decided to post some ads from the 1950s and 1960s which I remembered.  These ads are not only sexist, but they also portray some of the pressures and ideals of impossible perfection which are being sent to girls of all ages.

Not only do all of these ads portray standards of beauty which are almost impossible to meet, but they teach girls (and women of all ages) that it is necessary to adhere to such ideals of femininity and beauty in order to be validated, which can only come from male attention.
